"Lasgo," a prominent Belgian electronic music group, emerged on the music scene in 1999, comprising the talents of Evi Goffin, David Vervoort, Peter Luts, and Dave McCullen. The group quickly gained popularity for their energetic and infectious electronic sound, captivating audiences across the globe.
In 2008, a pivotal moment occurred when Evi Goffin decided to step back from the band to embrace full-time motherhood. Peter Luts, one of the founding members, publicly confirmed this development on Belgian radio, marking a turning point for Lasgo. Simultaneously, Luts embarked on a quest to find a new vocalist to fill the void left by Goffin's departure.
Teaming up with Belgian TV station JIMtv, Peter Luts orchestrated a televised talent search reminiscent of popular talent shows like Idols. This televised audition process aimed to discover the next voice that would carry Lasgo into their next chapter. Ultimately, the search led to the selection of Jelle Van Dael as the new lead singer, injecting fresh energy and talent into the group.
The name "Lasgo" itself has an interesting origin, as Dave McCullen proposed a connection to Scotland. Drawing inspiration from the city of Glasgow, the group creatively coined their name as a fusion of "Las" from Glasgow.
Over the course of their career, Lasgo achieved remarkable success, with their albums "Some Things" and "Far Away" collectively selling over five million units. The albums, along with their accompanying singles, solidified Lasgo's position as electronic music icons, leaving an indelible mark on the industry.
The story of Lasgo is one of evolution, resilience, and musical exploration. From their formation in 1999 to the dynamic vocalist change in 2008, Lasgo's journey is a testament to the transformative power of music and the enduring spirit of a group determined to share their electronic beats with the world.

Lasgo were a Belgian electronic music group. The group formed in 1999 was composed of Evi Goffin, David Vervoort, Peter Luts, and Dave McCullen. Peter Luts confirmed on Belgian radio in 2008 that Evi Goffin was not returning to the band, after choosing to become a full-time mother. Luts announced around the same time that he was looking for a new vocalist for the band. Together with Belgian TV station JIMtv, he organized a televised search (in similar fashion to talent shows like Idols) for a new vocalist, that came to pick Van Dael as the singer.
